On April 23rd Beijing time, Lakers player Anthony Davis talked about the selection of the best defensive player of the season in an interview with ESPN. Previously, the alliance announced the final three nominees, namely Bam Adebayor, Victor Verbayama, and Rudy Gobel.
Regarding his failure to make it to the final shortlist, Anthony Davis said, "I will never get the best defensive player, they won't give it to me. The league doesn't like me. I am the best defensive player in the league. I can switch from position 1 to position 5. I am the best big man in the league in terms of defense, blocking, and rebounding."
Davis finally said, "I don't know what else to do. I'm not thinking anymore. I just need to do what I need to do to help the team win and strive for the championship. I've had enough of honors and personal awards."
